LIBRARY SCIENCES GRAD PROGRAMS
Library science means a lot more than telling kids to be quiet in the library! In fact, there are a wider variety of librarianship careers out there than you might expect, and library science can only be studied at the graduate level. There are several different master's degrees available, such as the Master of Information Studies, Master of Information, Master of Arts, Master of Librarianship, Master of Library and Information Studies, or Master of Science. These are professional degrees needed to work as a librarian. The educational path you take will depend on the job you're aiming for, and there are many specialty areas of study. For instance, you can study school librarianship (K-12), academic librarianship (for colleges and universities, including specific departments like law or sciences), public librarianship, and special librarianship (for corporations, hospitals, the military, museums, government, and private businesses). Other areas of study can include data design, archival studies, and library technician programs. Some master's degrees in library science are offered in conjunction with other degrees or departments, such as law, public administration, environmental management and more. So if you have a passion for information and organization-if you enjoy being the one who knows where to find things-then consider a graduate degree in library science. Grad Source's directory of library science programs in North America can help you find the accredited library science degree you need to jump start your career!
